Your tree surgery questions answered
How can I tell when I need a tree surgeon?
If your tree is diseased and/or dying, it’s recommended to arrange for an urgent tree surgeon visit to treat or remove it. Signs of diseased or dying trees include:
- Visible cracks in the tree trunk
- Heavily leaning trunks
- Falling or loosely hanging branches
- Fungal growth around the base of the tree
- Mounding soil or cracked paving at the tree’s roots
- Wilting leaves or signs of stunted growth
Our tree surgeons can also assist with:
- Monitoring your tree’s health and treating signs of disease early
- Improving the aesthetic appeal of your tree and site vegetation
- Enabling better penetration of light through the tree crown
- Trimming or removing branches encroaching on structures/walkways
- Preventing or mitigating the risk of falling trees and branches
- Planting new trees and site vegetation
What if my tree is protected by a tree preservation order (TPO) or located in a conservation area?
If you want to remove or carry out pruning works on a tree, a TPO or conservation area won’t necessarily be a problem; you’ll just need to apply to your local authority for permission.
Acorn Tree Specialist Ltd can make the application on your behalf; and with over 20 years of experience in arboricultural works, you can rely on us to help you secure the necessary permissions.
Is tree surgery safe?
Tree surgery is a dangerous job which involves elevated work on potentially fragile tree structures, often with sharp power tools and heavy machinery.
Rest assured, at Acorn Tree Specialist Ltd, our tree surgeon operatives are fully certified by the City & Guilds’ National Proficiency Tests Council (NPTC).
We’re also members of the SMAS Worksafe SSIP scheme for health and safety compliance, and we always follow the safe working practices set out by the Health and Safety Executive’s Arboriculture and Forestry Advisory Group.
Plus, all our work is covered by our £10m public liability insurance; so if things should ever go wrong, we’re equipped to put them right.
Will tree surgery hurt my trees?
Acorn Tree Specialist Ltd always provides careful and responsible tree surgery work, with any pruning carried out within safe limits of the particular tree species.
What is the time to completion for tree surgery work?
At Acorn Tree Specialist Ltd, most of our work will range anywhere from 1 hour to 5 days per tree. For peace of mind, we always offer time estimations as part of our free no-obligation quote, and all work is carefully managed to prevent or minimise disruption to your business
